DISA Safety Orientation Program (DSOP)

The DISA Safety Orientation Program (DSOP) is a standardized safety training, consisting of comprehensive standards-based safety curriculum, geared specifically for the refinery industry. DSOP was formerly known as the Bay Area Training (BAT), which was created over 20 years ago by the refinery owners in the San Francisco - Bay Area. BAT was originally owned and managed by the Bay Area Training Corporation (BATC).
After acquiring the BATC, DISA developed DSOP as an enhanced successor to BAT. This powerful safety education program is still driven and suppored by the continuing cooperative efforts of the Bay Area refineries and contractor companies. It is used and accepted by numerous owner facilities along the West Coast and continues to be expanded into other U.S. regions.
DSOP Courses
8-Hour Contractor Safety Orientation
Successful participants receive a DSOP Card which is good for two years from the date of issue. Individuals must pass an 80 question exam by a minimum of 70%. Fee - $40.004-Hour Refresher Course
Students may take the 4-hour refresher as long as their 8-hour OR 4-hour card has not expired. Individuals must pass a 40 question test by a minimum of 70%. Fee - $30.004-Hour Challenge Course
Individuals can challenge the 4-Hour Refresher Course by taking an 80 question exam and passing with a minimum of 80%. Students have 90 minutes to complete the test. Fee - $20.00Contractor Refinery Safety Skills Testing (CRSST)
DISA serves as a proctor for the CRSST. There are four tests available through this program: metal skills, instrument technician, millwright and electrician. The card does not expire.
